Pollard Banknote and British Columbia Lottery Corporation recently launched JAWS Scratch & Win instant ticket, inspired by the iconic blockbuster directed by Steven Spielberg and released in 1975. Tickets cost CA$5 and invite players on a journey to relive the excitement of the Academy Award-winning picture and it generated more than CA$1.6 million in sales for its first three weeks.
BCLC is a state-run agency that offers legal but responsible gambling and lottery products to British Columbia. The money is used to support communities, programs and services, charities and major events.
- Dive Down into New Product
The timing of the launch is no coincidence as this summer marks 48 years since the blockbuster first came to the big screens. The ticket is developed by Pollard Banknote and it pays tribute to the iconic movie poster. It features some immense prizes with a top payout of CA$100,000 while the suspense of revealing the winning numbers can only be matched by the movie itself.
It should be mentioned, that the Scratch & Win game is supported by a multifaceted marketing campaign by the ticket provider – Pollard Banknote. This includes extensive social media support, digital terminal signage, and further merchandising prizing, all of which utilize the nostalgic visual assets of the original film. It generated over CA$1.6 million in sales in just three weeks.
Shirley Park, Senior Product Specialist at the Crown corporation said a few words on the ticket launch. According to the representative, it was safe to say that the new Scratch & Win product has been a major splash among B.C. players. She added the new game was a fun addition to the ticket portfolio and was a hit with players, allowing them to relive the experience of an iconic summer blockbuster film.
Brad Thompson, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Pollard Banknote congratulated BCLC on the debut of the ticket based on the classic JAWS movie. He noted that the provider’s licensed games library grows larger with the addition of engaging new products. Mr. Thompson praised the Crown’s player-first approach which delivered another summer blockbuster.
- Enhancing Its Player Content
Last month, BCLC also announced the launch of the Ticket to Ride instant game. This was the first instant ticket game for the lottery industry inspired and based on Days of Wonder’s Ticket to Ride™ board game. It comes with a top prize of CA$50,000 and a wild card bonus. One more, the ticket arrived with help from the Manitoba-based Pollard Banknote.
In addition to new instant tickets, BCLC is also always on the lookout to bolster its iGaming offerings on PlayNow.com. This April the Crown agency debuted ReelPlay’s Hypernova Megaways, making it the first title from the studio on the website. The launch was facilitated by the Light & Wonder OpenGaming ecosystem which provides over 3,500 games from a global network of in-house and third-party studios.
