Lee Da-yeon puts down the burden of losing two consecutive games, so she’s in the lead…”I’ll do my best every day”

The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour Hana Financial Group Championship (total prize money of 1.5 billion won) is being held at Bears Best Cheongna (par 72) in Incheon for four days from the 26th.

Defending champion Lee Da-yeon, who won the tournament last year, cut four shots on the second day, moving up 12 spots to tie for second (7 under par overall).

In an interview after the second round match, Lee Da-yeon looked back at the 18th hole, saying, “I didn’t follow him as I wanted, but when the chance came, the putt followed him well, so I was able to perform well.”

Lee Da-yeon then said, “There were many moments when shots didn’t fit well, but making up for those moments is going well in this competition,” and added, “I think that’s why I gained some confidence. There were ups and downs of failing to make the cut last week, so I hope this tournament has good ups and downs.”

Lee Da-yeon, who had more time to rest for a day than expected after failing to make the cut last week, said, “I thought it was a relief that I could take a rest because I was away from it rather than continuing in a vague way,” adding, “I played and hit it in the rain for two days, and it was a lot of pressure. Taking a day off helped me a lot (to recover my condition).”

Regarding the remaining rounds, Lee Da-yeon emphasized, “I’m trying not to think about my second consecutive victory in the tournament as much as I can,” and added, “The competitions I participated in as the defending champion before were like that, but feeling pressure didn’t work well. I think it would be better to leave that thought behind and focus more on what I have to do now.”

At the same time, Lee Da-yeon said, “I will do my best every day so that I can accept the results given to me.”
