Park Min-chae (24, 183.1cm), who wants a chance to participate, expressed her determination for the new season with a great slump.
At the first Deutsche Motors Cup Samsung Little Thunder basketball competition held at the Samsung Training Center on Friday, a man was closely watching the play of aspiring basketball players. Park Min-chae said, “I watched my children play basketball last year. I remember a lot of the old days because I was from KT&G Youth Club. Compared to my childhood, my standard has improved a lot. I think the future of Korean basketball is bright.”
Park joined Samsung as the fifth player in the second round of the 2022 KBL Rookie Draft. When she was in Kyung Hee University, she led the team as a key point guard, but she was not a professional. She played 17 minutes and 43 seconds in one regular league game for two seasons after her debut. She was outrivaled by her seniors and mainly played in the D League.
“I was disappointed, but I felt that I lacked a lot. As I have been playing practice games little by little these days, I am also aware of the importance of my sense of play. I think we need to shake off the disappointment of the past seasons and make up for the shortcomings,” Park said.
Lee Dae-sung, who was recruited in the off-season, suffered a knee injury and was effectively out of the team for the season. Except for Lee Jung-hyun and Choi St. Mary’s, Samsung does not have any solid guards. Coach Shim Sang-beom said he would use Park Min-chae for the new season.
In response, Park Min-chae said, “If you don’t feel pressured, it’s a lie. Still, I think I have a chance that no one can come to me. It’s up to me to prove it even more.”
Park Min-chae, who wants to have a chance to play in the upcoming offseason, said, “As we have prepared hard for the offseason, we hope to spend more time on the court in the new season.
Park Min-chae said, “I haven’t shown anything for two years since I came here professionally, but I think I’m still in the stage of growing up. I’ll work harder without collapsing hard, so please give me a lot of support.”
