The Nepalese government plans to regulate Nepal’s casino industry through a casino law to be drafted into the cabinet this week, the Kathmandu Post newspaper reported on Friday.
“We will submit a draft to the Cabinet for principled approval to come up with Casino Bill 2018,” tourism ministry spokesman Ghansham Upadhyay said, according to a news outlet quote.
The official added that the Justice Ministry and the National Assembly approved the original plan, adding that they would make detailed provisions after a nod from the cabinet. The aim is to promote “investment and employment in the industry.”
Nepal’s current casino regulatory framework is complex and has some loopholes, according to the report.
The report said some of the country’s casinos were operating under a law known as the Casino Regulations of 2013.
The outlet said the rules require casino operators to pay a fee of 20 million yen ($185,694) to obtain a casino operating license. They also reportedly have to pay 50% of the operating license fee each year to renew their licenses. 카지노사이트 모음
According to news outlets, casinos are currently required to pay a second levy of 30 million NPR per year under Nepal’s finance law. In the 2018-2019 financial year, a third is reported to be raised to 40 million NPR per year.
